About Meggy's nostalgic journey

My name is Meggy, okay well truth be told I'm actually known to most people iv ever met as 'Meggy Spice' due to my insane love of anything

connected to The Spice Girls. Nostalgia, is definitely a massive part of my personality and a subject that is on the tip of my tongue almost 24

hours a day. I dream weekly that Cilla Black is about to pop out and give me a 'Surprise Surprise' or that I am trashing fun house with Pat

Sharpe at the helm. Talking about a Nokia 3310 will forever excite me more than any chat about the latest iPhone and what it can do. We had

snake for god sake, the king of phone games and we had the skills of squashing the last 12 words of a text message into one text so you weren't charged another 10p. Those skills are elite.

Why look back?

As a millennial (who feels on the cusp of Gen X as a 1985 baby) life without internet and the benefits of that stay firmly in my mind. While for

a long part of childhood and adolescence we grew up Wifi-less, we did grow ups with telly and the adverts that came with it. It was all about

catchy jingles and phone numbers you sung to remember. I was that child, annoying my dad with the Lombard Direct advert dialogue, 0800 2

15000 24 hours a day will forever be a number ingrained into my brain. Being a lassie born in Paisley, of course I'm a huge fan of oor zany

Irn-Bru national ads or when that mad sexy kilted hunk helped the old lady get the porridge down from the top shelf but there is so much

more. I love that just that nostalgic ads, their meanings and humour travel through gender, ages and nationalities. Love them or hate them,

they were a talking point and with the current state of affairs in some parts of the world, its a little bit of escapism that seems just that bit

more innocent and what's needed.

Why so nostalgic?

Nostalgia is endless, and that's the beauty in it. Every move this world makes on a daily basis is future nostalgia and I'm more aware of it

than ever before. It won't be long till we see iPod Nanos in museums and the yellow pages will seem like something that was closer to the

ice age than the millennium.

Its just the beginning - Come with me?

This is my starting point - Meggy's Review Buffet Ads edition is just step one in hopefully a long line of nostalgic journeys I will step into. I

love to write and I love to laugh. I love to find those golden nuggets of pure comedy but in the same breath I also love a good cry (A big greet

if you're face Scotland) when I see something that's been made or written with real heart. Not everything you see has to be for you, but you

can appreciate the effort and soul that goes behind every creators projects.

I'd LOVE for you to join me at the very start of my nostalgic ride and share as much as you want too along the way. Lets build an inclusive

community of all ages who want to discover or re-discover what life was like.

Grab your plate and tuck into Meggy's Review Buffet.
